The professional lawyer’s license is required for litigation in most countries. More often this license applies to the state, district or city. In Russia, this is much easier, most lawsuits can be filed by both lawyers and just counsel.

In most cases, the assistance of local lawyers is not required for the pre-trial settlement of a dispute in various States.

For example, in Italy, we were faced with the fact that we had to file claims with various organizations before the trial, and there were also a number of issues for the law enforcement agencies of this country.

We contacted colleagues from Italy and asked for help in resolving various issues.  During the conversation on the phone, we did not find out what our colleagues’ plan was. No one could tell us exactly how to complete this or that task. Colleagues from Italy spoke clearly only about sending a power of attorney and a payment for their services. Only the amount of the advance was several thousand EUR, plus a percentage of the cost of the claim and other expenses.

In this case, it was decided to travel to Italy and resolve the issue on the spot. During the business trip, our team organized a check in the Italian police, as well as obtaining all the necessary documents. During the interrogation by the police of the second party, it was found out that in fact this person is not involved in our issue and all the documents that were drawn up on behalf of this person are fake.

In this situation, we also avoided overspending for work that would not have brought results.
